Envy is a 4 letter word!
‘Envy will pretend to be in your corner. The spirit of jealousy will pretend to have your back while stabbing you in the back.’ ~Serenity Mask
‘Envy will pretend to be in your corner. The spirit of jealousy will pretend to have your back while stabbing you in the back.’ ~Serenity Mask
Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
One of the Seven Deadly Sins: ENVY
Aquinas wrote that envy: "...is contrary to charity, whence the soul derives its spiritual life... Charity rejoices in our neighbor's good, while envy grieves over it."
Non-Christian philosophers like Aristotle and Plato argued that envy leads to a desire to destroy those who are envied so they can be stopped from possessing anything at all. Envy is thus treated as a form of resentment.
Bertrand Russell said that envy was one of the most potent causes of unhappiness.
The ‘Daughters of Envy’ are hatred, tale-bearing, detraction, joy at our neighbor's misfortunes, & grief of others’ prosperity.
Carl Jung: “The more a man lays stress on false possessions, and the less sensitivity he has for what is essential, the less satisfying is his life. He feels limited because he has limited aims, and the result is envy and jealousy.”
Psalm 62:4 “They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.”
Principality of Envy
Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Principalities: Chief rulers; beings of the first rank and order in their own kingdom. There are evil angels/spirits ruling the kingdoms of the world that oppose the truth of God.
James 3:16 - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
The spirit of envy seeks to destroy unity, peace, and close family.. including fellowship. It seeks to spread hate, and bitterness, and to make us forget to walk with our Blessed Lord Jesus, Christ of Nazareth. It causes HATERS.
The Principality of Jealousy aims to make us alone in our walk, loneliness leading to the questioning of our Faith.
The Spirit of Competitive Jealousy
1Peter 2: 1-9
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 To who coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
This is a great example of the Pharisees.
The Pharisees in the Bible were members of a religious group or party that frequently clashed with Jesus Christ over his interpretation of the Law.
1. a member of an ancient group of Jews, written about in the Bible, who believed in obeying religious laws very carefully and separated themselves from the ordinary people. 2. a person who thinks they are very religious, but who does not care about others
2 Timothy 4:16-18
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
